300-Pound Suspect Attacks Woman Arriving at Work

She was robbed as she entered a San Carlos business.

A woman was attacked and robbed as she arrived for work in San Carlos on Wednesday morning, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.

At about 6:30 a.m., the woman was unlocking the rear entrance of a business in the 1600 block of Laurel Street when a large man grabbed her from behind and said he had a knife, sheriff's investigators said.

The victim was forced indoors and the suspect tried to remove an article of her clothing, according to the sheriff's office.

A security alarm was activated, prompting the suspect to flee, investigators said. As he left the building, he stole the victim's purse.

The victim was not injured in the attack, and a knife was never seen.

Responding deputies from the sheriff's office and Redwood City police searched the area but did not find the suspect.

He was described as a white man with blue eyes, around 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighing around 300 pounds. He was wearing a black San Francisco Giants baseball cap, a dark hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information regarding possible suspects or the case is asked to contact San Mateo County sheriff's Sgt. Andy Armando at (650) 363-4347.
