3 Hurt in Wrong-Way Crash on Hwy 29 North of Napa

A head-on crash that injured three people was caused by a motorist driving the wrong way on state Highway 29 Wednesday night, according to CHP.

Two people were airlifted to Queen of the Valley Medical Center with major injuries and a third suffered minor injuries in a collision Wednesday night on state Highway 29 just north of Oak Knoll Avenue, according to information from the California Highway Patrol.

The crash took place at around 7:20 p.m., when an Acura Style, traveling in the wrong direction on northbound Highway 29, hit a minivan head-on, according to CHP.

Emergency crews from multiple agencies responded to the collision, said a Napa County Fire volunteer who asked not to be named pending authorization from superiors.

All three of the injured victims had to be extricated from the heavily damaged vehicles, said the volunteer, who provided the following details:

The first victim was critically injured and was extricated at 7:55 p.m. The second victim, with moderate injuries, was extricated at 8:08 p.m. and the third, with minor injuries, was freed from the wreckage at 8:25 p.m.

The first patient was flown to the Queen by CHP helicopter and the second was taken by REACH (Redwood Empire Air Care Helicopter), said the volunteer, adding that the patient with minor injuries was transported by ground ambulance.

The reason the Acura was traveling south on northbound Highway 29 is not presently known.

The northbound lanes of Highway 29 were closed for almost two hours as a result of the collision.

This is exactly what landed me in court as a two-week Jurist back in 2006; as continually described by his Mark Hamel lookalike public defender "Grand-dad" (yea, waaa - cry me a river) union construction worker on drugs (duh) crossed the meridian and did a head on into a van of innocents; this was on Hwy 29 right near the Yountville Veterans Home. Buckle up and be on your guard out there people!

Hey there, Local, I used to live next door to your parents, Bumpkin and Hayseed. Did those banjo lessons ever pan out?
