Five Minutes to a Buff Body

Help Patch readers achieve their New Year's resolutions by sharing your most efficient exercise.

The holiday indulgence is over, the Christmas tree has been kicked to the curb, and now it's time to cleanse for the new year.

If your New Year's resolution involved healthy living, you may have started your day with a few push-ups or lunges. It can be hard to make a lifestyle change stick if you're trying to go from sedentary to daily 10K runner, but it's those quick, efficent exercises that are easy to implement and make a big difference.

For the next two weeks, we're bringing you daily fitness tips from Bay Area gyms and trainers, but we'd also like to know what works for you in your own daily life.

Tell us: which quick, efficient exercises do you use to get in shape? Extra points if little or no equipment is required.

Check out the book "JAIL 101" at JAIL101.COM The author included the "Lockdown Workouts" in the back of the book. These workouts include burpees and other exercises that inmates do "inside". The movements produce results and don't take much time or space.

I started walking 30 min since the 1st of the new year. Feels good and is very easy for me to do. Now I just need to commit to drinking more water...

I go to exercise classes at my club where friends are there to help keep me accountable. It helps me if someone else is kind of looking out for me and expecting me to be there. Make it part of your routine just as much as a meal or a work schedule.

Cindy, that's a great idea. I'm thinking about checking out this slow flow vinyasa/yin yoga class: http://patch.com/E-sfSM

I just bought a treadmill at Sears and am wearing a sweat belt around my fat belly and it seems to be working already! Trying to walk between three and four miles daily with two-pound weights in my hands. I listen to party classics, or salsa or merengue, any music that will get me moving. Also trying to be a healthier eater in 2013! I hope I can stick to it! Thanks for the article, Drew!
