Fight for the Ocean, Fight for Sharks

February 15- Action to Fight the West Australia Shark Cull,
Shark March at 11 AM SF Ferry Terminal to Australian Embassy. Join us  protesting this unscientific and unsustainable shark killing!
Dress like a shark, make a shark valentine, fight for Aussie sharks.

The West Australian Shark cull continues with 10 dead and 21 Sharks released with hook damage. This unsustainable and unscientific response to a series of shark attacks over the last 4 years is indiscriminately killing sharks on baited hooks anchored to the bottom.  80% of Western Australians polled, including shark attack survivors, are opposed to the shark cull.  Stop the Shark Cull! Join me and other shark supporters 11 AM Feb 15 at the Sf Ferry Building for a march up market street to the Australian Embassy.
I hope to see you at the San Francisco Shark march Feb. 15!

Help us California Sharks and Marine Life
Each year thousands of sharks and other marine animals are killed in California by lethal gillnets.  During the past decade, over 1,300 whales, dolphins, and turtles drowned after getting tangled in California's large-mesh drift gillnets. More than 100,000 giant ocean sunfish and 10,000 blue sharks were also caught and discarded during the last 10 years.  Banned on the high seas, these nets need to be replaced by cleaner methods. Please add your voice today to tell the Pacific Fishery Management Council, NOAA Fisheries, and the State of California to stop plans of expansion and instead remove deadly drift gill nets from California waters. Tell the Council to stop the expansion today! TAKE ACTION FOR SHARKS

This week we received some excellent news. Lead by Congressman Jared Huffman and pressured by a host of supporters, NOAA has backed away from meddling with the California Shark Fin Ban.
NOAA has ruled that our law, and that of Hawaii and Maryland does not interfere with Federal fishing regulations. NOAA has not yet commented on removing harmful language from the Magnusen Stevens Act, but things are looking positive.
Since our State Shark fin ban has been in place, trade records indicate US shark fin imports have been reduced 68%, primarily California and New York.
Yet, a recent report by the International Union For Conservation of Nature places 25% of Sharks and Rays at risk of extinction.
We must keep up the fight for sharks. Please join me and Take Action fighting for these magnificent predators from California across the ocean to Asia and Australia.

Run for the sharks.  Lets have some fun saving sharks. Join me and the shark school at the San Francisco Bay to Breakers May 18!  Contact us to sign up and be part of the team.
