Longtime Pacifica Resident Paulette Martinez Dies After 5 Year Battle With Cancer

A memorial service is planned for this weekend.

February 29, 1972 – June 22, 2014

A resident of Pacifica for almost 20 years, Paulette Martinez passed away on June 22 with her loving family around her at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto after a 5-year-long battle with cancer.  Born in Rehobeth, New Mexico, Paulette Martinez was special from the start, born on February 29, 1972 as a Leap Year baby.  She was the youngest of five children, born to Marie Reynolds, and Eddie Paul Martinez.  Raised in Pacifica, California, she was an active, and beautiful young lady, loving the beauty of life, always contemplating the future and appreciating each day given to her.

Paulette is also the cherished sister of Tami Spradlin of New Mexico, Daniel Ortiz and Veronica Martinez of California, Lisa Martinez of Washington, Eddie Paul Martinez, Michael Martinez and Frances Martinez of Arizona.  She was Auntie to Danak Spradlin, Cambree Gilbert, Juanita, D.J., Leo, Francisco and Diego Ortiz, Daniel and Maria Martinez, Giovanni De Palma and “Auntie Mommy” to her beautiful niece AvaMarie Sandoval. She also leaves behind her partner Brandon Brooks and his son Ethan Brooks.

Paulette’s positive attitude and comforting nature were always admired by friends and strangers alike.  She will leave a lifetime legacy of love and compassion for others to follow.  Paulette emulated true grace by never complaining and always smiling regardless of how she felt. while always seeing the good in everyone she knew.  One heart that touched many, Paulette taught us how to live and appreciate each moment to the fullest.  She amazed many by maintaining her wit, wonderful sense of humor and selfless positive attitude until the very end.  Her true beauty and amazing spirit will never be forgotten and will leave behind a legacy.

 

A memorial service will be held at St. Peters Church in Pacifica this Saturday, July 12 at noon, with a celebration of life reception immediately following in the St. Peters gymnasium.
