Welcome to Nina’s Frugalicious Finds

Here's a spot to help you find ways to be frugal and eat well! I'm always looking to stretch my hard earned dollars and feed my family meals that are quick and healthy too.

I love to find great deals while I shop, especially if it helps me feed my family a healthy meal. I wouldn’t call myself an extreme couponer, but I do love to use coupons. I’ve been able to fill my pantry with some great deals. When was the last time you were able to buy cereal for either free or like 49 cents a box? I can’t even bring myself to buy certain things at the grocery store for full price anymore.

You know, being a mom of two little ones and working and keeping up the house, etc, etc, is a lot of work. My husband helps, but he works full time and also goes to school, so he gets pretty busy. Who has time to cook elaborate meals during the week anymore? Not us. I follow a lot of blogs online and am always looking for quick, yummy and healthy meals to serve my family.  I love using my slow cooker, too. I’ll be sharing lots of shopping tips and recipes with you all with a restaurant review here and there. I love to hear suggestions, too.

Now that the farmer’s market is starting up again here in Pacifica, I’m really looking forward to getting some really fresh produce and creating some yummy meals around them. One tip I have for you: Get to know your local farmers. They recognize frequent shoppers and tend to add a little something extra at times to your purchase. I really prefer to buy my produce at the Farmer’s Markets because not only are you guaranteed local produce, but it’s just picked and lasts a lot longer than what you get at your local grocery store. I can no longer afford to spend money on a sale at Safeway, for example, only to watch it go bad in a day or two. It all goes bad or moldy or mushy….that’s no savings. Plus, the farmers will tell you if there is spray on their produce….gotta luv that too! Lastly, and please don’t quote me on this, but some farmers will give you better deals on their produce near closing time so as to not have to bring home what wasn’t sold.
