SMC Supervisors Unanimously Approve Another 11 Percent Increase

Salary increase for John Maltbie brings up the question: why wasn't this issue brought up to the public's attention before it got placed on the agenda?

On December 11th the five supervisors approved an 11 percent raise for John Maltbie.

This brings up several questions about the leadership of our five supervisors — Addrienne Tissier, Carole Groom, Don Horsley, Dave Pine, Rose Jacob Gibson—  including, why wasn't this issue brought up to the public's attention before it got placed on the agenda?

The model used by the human resources department was flawed and the supervisors knew the model was flawed and still went on and approved this non necessary raise. This is a perfect example of  very small group of people who have no concern for the general population of San Mateo County.

For those of you who are thinking who in there right mind would approve this unnecessary salary increase you don't have to look very far. This mindset can be found at the Service League of San Mateo County here.

This is where 100 percent of these people think this way.

Very disappointing that Mr. Pine voted with the majority.
Glad you voted for Measure A at this point?

This is the same John Maltbie who already retired once from the County Manager position. This is the same John Maltbie who, while he was County Manager before, was arrested for soliciting a prostitute decoy.

Dave Pine is not who any of you thought he was. Follow the money.

San Mateo County Times and The Daily Journal wrote ZERO on this subject Wednesday. That's about 150,000 print copies, that should help keeping the residents in the dark about the Supervisors behavior.

Is there anything anybody can do about it?

Well, at least we now know where our increased taxes are going. And who can forget the tear-jerking plea of the SMC Supervisors last election: "We have made all of the cuts that are possible and we are now down to bare bones. We simply have NO other choice but to raise your taxes"?
Please try and remember this the next time you buy the propaganda from our public officials and vote yourself a tax increase.

Great news the 11% raise/increase is in reality a cut according to Supervisor Don Horsley.

Order of events:
1. Increase managers' retirement contribution to 50%. 2. Board of Supes vote themselves a 5% pay increase. 3. Controller gets 11% increase. 4. SEIU contract is signed without any increases. 5. "Whistle Blower" mechanism (hard to find and exposes the source) voted by BOS not in need of change 6. Maltbie gets an 11% increase. The corruption goes farther back. Maltbie spiked his pay by 28% 18 months before his first retirement.

Keep on this topic. Employees of the county are afraid to raise their voice. The executive leadership is infamous for retaliation.

Bren, No need to vent your pent up anger at white people. Your statement is a perfect example ofRead More reverse racism. We live in an country where there are different races and different languages but the native language is English and to omit that language from any sign that was paid for by tax payers is a slap in the face. This has nothing to do with demographics or race wars. Take a step back, breath, and stop spreading your hate rhetoric.
