Pedro Point Headlands Fall Habitat Restoration Day - Sunday
Fall is a very special time on the Pedro Point Headlands. It just feels more "crisp" and the views clearer for some reason. Many of the plants are brown waiting for the fall and winter rains, yet here and there is an aster, a pearly everlasting, or, oh drats, a pampas grass!
Whoever said "we don't have seasons in California" must not have romped the headlands throughout the year.
The Pacifica Land Trust invites you to join us and experience fall on the Headlands this Sunday, October 27th from 9.45 - 1.00pm for our first fall season Habitat Restortation Day. Please meet at the Pedro Point Firehouse, 1225 Danmann Ave in Pacifica.
Some tasks we'll work on include:
- Prepare an area on the North Ridge to be restored
- Check water bars and clean out drainage areas
- Tree control in pristine shrubland
- Seed collection
- Water the Middle Ridge plantings (if we have enough people)
All of these events and Habitat Restoration days are projects of the Pacifica Land Trust, funded by the CA Coastal Conservancy, with support from the Pedro Point Community Association and City of Pacifica.
The Pedro Point Headlands is open to the public, however access thru the Green Gate off of Hwy 1 just north of the Devils Slide Tunnel entrance is currently limited. Soon there will be a trail from the Devils Slide Parking area into the Headlands staging area.
Questions and/or RSVP to Lynn4promos@aol.com is appreciated.
