New Years Resolution - USE LESS PLASTIC! Find out how... and why Jan 10th

As I head into the New Year I contemplate what is the next step for me and my family?  What more can I do to help the fish, birds, wildlife, planet?   I pick up litter, compost, recycle, shop more wisely - choosing products with less packaging, and I drink tap water.   I speak up and I try to lead by example ...

Dare I attempt the daunting task of cutting down on my plastic use?  Since I've been thinking about this for the past month or two I am blown away by how much plastic invades my life and home!  The tubs of yogurt, bottles of mayonaisse, caps, lids, wraps, seals, bags, baggies, ties, straws, toys, ... need I go on?  I've witnessed first hand the effects of plastic on our beaches and streets.  The thought of the river of plastic making its way to the ocean from all of our land and the lands of the world haunt me.   For this reason, I commit myself today to using less plastic in the New Year and on a daily basis and I invite you to join me by learning more about plastic and the ways we can reduce our use of it at a special event hosted by the Pacifica Beach Coalition and Pacifica Libraries:

Friday, January 10th - 6.30pm
Sharp Park Library -
 104 Hilton Way

Fresh Popcorn and refreshments - bring your cup and bowl to keep this a plastic free event!

TAPPED  An eye opening documentary film that examines the role of the bottled water industry and its effects on our health, climate change, pollution, and our reliance on oil.

Come learn more about reducing plastic in our lives for the sake of our health, the health of the planet, and the health of our ocean (and landfills too).   Join a growing number of people who are taking the next step to curb the petroleum based life we have been sold on.  Learn some easy ways you can change out plastic for natural materials and the difference that makes.  Consider joining a Coastside Activists group to bring healthy changes to Pacifica and our coastside by banding together and using our voices.

What is the next step?  What can we each do?  Come to this special evening's movie and discussion and decide what is right for you.  Armed with a little more knowledge and supported by a community who cares, I know I will use less plastic, and maybe you will too!
