Coastside Residents Bring Home Ribbons From the County Fair

Talented coastsiders showed their best at the 79th San Mateo County Fair.

Miramar resident Eva Crosland and daughters Carly, 19, and Sarah, 18, entered a few things in the 79th San Mateo County Fair earlier this month, and “between us we have two 1st places and several 2nd and 3rd place awards,” said Crosland. “Even the honorable mention I received on my one entered photograph was enough to make me giddy with joy.”

Here’s what the Croslands took home with them from this year’s County Fair, which was June 8-16:

There's also 11-year-old Zoe Roberts from Pacifica who entered three paintings in the Youth Exhibits section of the San Mateo County Fair, competing in the 6 through 15 age group, all art mediums. All three of her pieces won an award — two first place ribbons and one second place ribbon. Read more about Roberts in a Pacifica Tribune article here.

And Randie Marlow, a long-time Coastside photographer, took home a Best of Show in Color Photography at this year’s San Mateo County Fair, held in San Mateo this June. Entering 11 images in 12 categories brought her eight ribbons. More about Marlow on Patch here.
