Pacifica Boys & Girls Clubs Exhibit Photography in Gallery Show

The public is invited to attend the Pacifica Boys & Girls Clubs' gallery showing from their student photography class on June 28 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Moonraker Restaurant at 105 Rockaway Beach Avenue in Pacifica.

The Boys and Girls Clubs of North San Mateo County serves over 2,500 children and youth each year at five sites in Pacifica and South San Francisco. The Club’s vision is that every child learn to read by third grade, every child is physically active every day, and every child has a positive sense of self.

In Pacifica, there are over 200 registered members attending the Club’s building on Yosemite Drive daily after school until 6 p.m. Club fees are a modest $50-$100 monthly, with scholarships available. Children who receive free or reduced lunch at school may attend for a $30 annual membership fee. The Club provides help with homework, sports and arts programs, as well as summer camp, and will soon host a new technology center.

At Ingrid B. Lacy Middle School, over 300 students participate in 10 different after school sports, receive homework support, and drop-in at the Clubhouse on campus where they can receive free healthy snacks daily. Fees charged at both sites cover only a small portion of the costs, and the Club must raise the funds to cover the rest. Donations to support the Pacifica Boys & Girls Clubs can be made online at www.theclubs.org.
