What Should Be Done With the Oddstad School Surplus?

Oddstad School meeting Feb. 29 at 7p.m. at Ortega School to determine future plans for the school site. The Pacifica School District is seeking comments from residents of Park Pacifica. Please attend!

A very important meeting will be taking place this coming Wed., Feb. 29 at 7p.m. at on Terra Nova Boulevard.

The (PSD) wants input from the community about future plans for the Oddstad School property. It has been declared "surplus" and PSD wants to find a long-term lessee for the property - probably in the range of 50-100 years. Developers may be attending this meeting to find out what the residents in Park Pacifica want in place of the school.

As a realtor, I think it is very unlikely that single family homes will be built on the site as homeowners would not own the land and PSD could take the property back at the end of the lease. Many residents have attended prior meetings and have expressed interest in having a sports complex built. Several non-profits have expressed interest in building affordable family housing apartments on the site. It is vitally important that residents in the area turn out for this meeting and have input into this very important decision by the five members of the school Board. Their decision could affect property values in Park Pacifica - either positively or negatively - depending on what is chosen to replace the school.
