3rd Annual Rockaway Beach Tree Lighting 'Best Ever' This Year

They say third time's a charm.

Such is the case with the 3rd Annual Rockaway Tree Lighting. Not to say that the past two Tree Lightings were unsuccessful because they were a hit, too, but the Pacifica Chamber of Commerce is happy to report that this year’s Rockaway Tree Lighting on Sunday was “by far our best Tree Lighting ever.”

Everything came together very well this year for Sunday's event, which in its third year is hosted by the Merchants of Rockaway Beach and the Pacifica Chamber of Commerce. Those who attended seem to agree. Here’s what some of your neighbors had to say about their favorite part or memory from Sunday’s event:

"I loved riding the trolley in the open air on the hill up Roberts Rd., feeling the cold wind in our faces, while seeing the beautiful ocean view. Loved visiting all the wonderful shops with friendly greetings, free cookies and apple cider. It was a fun night," wrote in Donna Doney.

Holly Rios said: "Everything about this event was even better than ever this year! The kittens in the window, 4H was our favorite new addition! Thyme's generosity was also amazing with the plate decorating!"

Buzz Wright liked the "very lovely Santa and dinner at Rockin Rob's."

"Glow stick bracelets from the Durkins! And the nog with some cheer!" are what Michele Nunes enjoyed most.

Santa rides on the Pacifica Fire Department’s antique fire truck, pony rides, a 4-H petting zoo, refreshments and face painting were all part of the evening’s festivities. Live music was also part of the program with caroling by the Seaside Singers and Tom Stafford and Cabrillo School 4th and 5th graders. After the lighting ceremony, Disney characters Rapunzel, Cinderella and the Snow Fairy as well as the Nesquik Bunny made the rounds.

A highlight for many this year were all the merchant events from Lynn Gallo’s Treasure Hunt at Steams Lending and Urban Succulent’s Santa letter writing to Pacifica Massage and Wellness Santa’s Post Office to plate decorating at Thyme Integrative Health.
