Pacifica Makes 'Safest City' List (Again!)

Half Moon Bay doesn't make the list but Pacifica, Belmont and Saratoga do.

A business consortium of home security providers has named the top 50 Safest City in California in which to live. Pacifica ranked 23rd and Belmont ranked 46th out of 50 on the list. Saratoga was No. 1, Los Altos finished just a couple spots back — in 3rd place — and Cupertino finished 12th. Foster City was named in 19th place, Sunnyvale 32nd and Benicia 40th.

The study was made from the company's data and research since 2011, as well as the most recent FBI Crime in the U.S. Report. Towns listed have a population of 20,000 residents or more as of 2011.

Last February, Pacifica was named one of the 100 safest cities in the U.S., according to Location, Inc., a national residential and commercial data tracking company.

The seaside community, known for its good schools, surf, ocean views and annual Fog Fest and Earth Day, was ranked No. 90 on the list. Pacifica, after all, means "peaceful" in Spanish.
