NDNU 17th Annual Labor Day Theatre Festival

NDNU's 17th Annual Festival of Theatre & Dance continues for one last weekend. Aug,. 29 - 31, 7:30 PM. Special Children's matinee program, Sat. Aug. 31, 1:00 PM, nearly sold out. This week's offerings of short, original plays, musical and film include "NEWLYWED FEUD FACTOR" by Robert Casillas, where the audience has to wonder if the newlywed contestants of the latest game show mash-up will make to their first anniversary, ALIVE! Also by Robert Casillas is "A WING AND A PRAYER" which allows the audience to be the fly on the wall in a board meeting where plans are afoot for a new action/adventure/romantic comedy/sci- fi. Next is "MISS DIRECTION" by VB Leghorn in which we find out just how far one man's GPS will take him and "HEARTS AND SOLES", a love story with sole."THE COUNT'S DAUGHTER" a very short film by Johnny Villar takes us back to a simpler time when silent films and love needed on words. The play "THROUGH THE FENCE" by Amelia Bethel, tells the story of two people who get to know one another without ever actually meeting. "PAVANE" by Wyllis Cooper, again takes us back in time to the staging of a radio drama once aired in the 1940 radio series "Quiet Please" with a bittersweet ghost story. Speaking of ghost stories, "A NEW YORK MINUTE" by Michele Palermo, lets us in on a conversation between a woman and her recently deceased friend. In the Children's shows, 'THE HOOUSE ON POLKA-DOT HILL" a book by Donna Imsand, through a staged reading of selected chapters, joins three young girls on an adventure of self-discovery and " A FOOLISH FAIRY TALE", an original musical by Karen Byrnes tells the power of unconditional love to save the entire kingdom of Hubbalubbadingdong.
