Upcoming Senior Health Conference Registration Period Open

"Living Long and Prospering" is the theme of this upcoming county-wide event focused on the health of seniors. Free registration is now open.

The public is invited to attend an upcoming conference at the Millbrae Community Center to discuss health concerns of seniors in San Mateo County.

The conference organizers hope to bring together residents with decision-makers to exchange ideas on how to improve the health of local neighborhoods.

The event is part of a county-wide series called the Healthy Communities Forum, which began last year.

Dr. Tanja Srebotnjack of Ecologic Institute, an international research group, will present a new report: “Health in San Mateo County: An Assessment of Current Status and an Outlook into Future Needs.”

Srebotnjack will discuss changing demographics of the county's senior population, as well as health-related topics including access to health care, insurance, food and affordable housing.

Follow her presentation, attendants will break into small groups to dicuss specific ways to address challenges in seniors' lives in San Mateo County.

Sustainable San Mateo County, in partnership with the Sierra Club Loma Prieta Chapter and the San Mateo County Health System are sponsoring the conference. The event is free, and registration can be complete online here.

The conference will be held at the Millbrae Community Center, Room E/F on Dec. 6 at 477 Lincoln Circle from 5:30 to 8:30p.m.
