Two Men Arrested After Rooster, Cockfighting Tools Found in Car

The rooster and the fighting accessories were turned over to the humane society.

Two men were arrested in Half Moon Bay on Saturday evening when deputies found a fighting rooster and cockfighting paraphernalia during a traffic stop, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies pulled over a vehicle for a window tinting violation near Kelly Street and state Highway 1 at about 6:45 p.m., according to the sheriff's office.

Inside the vehicle, deputies reportedly found a rooster, twelve metal slashers and mounting brackets used in cockfighting, according to the sheriff's office.

Rigoberto Morales, 41, of unincorporated Half Moon Bay, and Jorge Solis-Bizarro, 49, of Watsonville, were arrested for cruelty to animals and booked into San Mateo county jail.

The rooster and the fighting accessories were turned over to the humane society.
