Caltrans will be demolishing the in Menlo Park Tuesday night, shutting down the highway in the process.
Southbound lanes on Highway 101 between Marsh Road and Willow Road will be entirely closed from 1-5a.m. Northbound lanes will be closed on that same stretch of highway between 1 and 4 a.m.
Caltrans spokesperson Gidget Navarro said the work is being performed overnight to avoid congestion during high traffic times.
"This work will take a maximum of three nights with the first and second nights, generating noise in the area,” Navarro said.
She said motorists should expect delays and take other routes.
Other closures:
Two lanes of 101 will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
Van Buren Street, also known as the frontage road, will be closed on Thursday, Friday and Monday (May 7th), between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Pierce Street, also a frontage road, will be closed on Tuesday, May 8th, through Thursday May 10th, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Suggested Detours:
Caltrans will be detouring traffic on southbound 101 off the highway at Marsh Road. Cars will be directed to go south on Middlefield Road, and then east to get back on 101 using the Willow Road on ramp.
Northbound traffic will be funneled eastbound to Willow Road, then north to State Route 84, then west to get back on 101 at the Marsh road on ramp.
