Church/community center: “In Japan I spend time at the shrines and temples. We went to Nikko last summer. There were awesome waterfalls there, too. Too bad we could not find the monkeys.”

Favorite subjects and why: “Writing — fiction when I want to play, and non-fiction when I need to be serious. Drama is fun, too. I like to pretend and create stories.”

Least favorite subjects and why: “Math because there are too many ways to do it.”

Awards/accomplishments/grades:  “Graduating from 1st grade at Japanese School; I go to school in Japan, too. I have passed the Royal Academy of Dance certifications at Susan Hayward ballet and am working really hard at gymnastics. I love school and my Daddy says that I am doing very well in math.”

Sports: “Skiing (on a ski team for past 2 years), soccer (AYSO), bicycling, ballet (performed in Susan Hayward’s ‘Nutcracker’), and gymnastics.”

Pets: “Cattle Dog named Taiko.”

Do you have a job? “At school, my job is door-holder. At home, keeping my room and stuff cleaned up is my hardest job.”

After-school activities and hobbies: “I go to Japanese school two days a week. I love tap and ballet dancing. Gymnastics is a close second. One of my latest favorite things is being in the musical ‘Musicman.’ I hope we can find more time to study drama. I have been on a ski team for the last two seasons. I am in love with chapter books and help cook whenever I can. If I could do whatever I want, I would draw and paint.”

Your key to awesomeness: “Being a happy, little person and always trying my hardest.”

Something your parents make you do that you don’t like doing: “Of course, cleaning up my room. It’s true.”

Something you want to share: “I like to make nests to burrow in. Someday I will show one to you.”
