The Value of Volunteering at Schools

Recently, one of our school volunteers shared with me the powerful impact of her volunteer experience.

"The kids just blew me away! To see how much each student grew academically and personally from the first week to the last week of school was amazing. One student stands out for me - he was a recent immigrant with minimal English skills.  But by Christmas he was reading. Knowing that I had a part in that will stay with me forever."

School volunteering is a powerful experience. Our struggling students blossom with the additional attention of a caring volunteer and perhaps equally important, our volunteers blossom knowing that they have made a real difference in the life of a child. Volunteer opportunities exist within all of the Pacifica public schools, whether you have hours each week to give, or only a few hours a year.  There are opportunities to assist with core academic subjects such as math and reading, but also opportunities for you to share your interests such as music, art and drama.
