Need Help with Homework Stress?

Homework headaches? Test stress? Organization frustration? To help parents with this important aspect of school, Pacifica School Volunteers is offering a free workshop.

Late afternoon and early evening hours are often stressful at our house. Despite our best intentions when the time comes to crack open the books and get started on homework, the frustration level starts to mount for everyone - 4th grader, 8th grader, mom & dad! Misplaced assignments, forgotten worksheets, test stress are part of daily life - a life that is already busy with work, sports and hobbies. I know that our family is not unique.

These experiences are common in most homes with school age children. Pacifica School Volunteers is offering a free workshop to help parents explore resources and strategies that can make a positive difference in our children's school success (and hopefully ease that homework stress!). Dr. Gardiner, school psychologist and Ms. Nelles, resource teacher, will discuss K - 8th grade child development, academic expectations at each level and parent roles and supports for different age groups.

A representative from the Pacifica Library will also be on hand to introduce parents to the wonderful online resources available through the library.  Did you know that live tutoring help is available for free every day through the library website?  This is just one of the many programs available to help ease the homework stress.
