Unemployment Rises Slightly in San Mateo County, State Data Shows
Though local unemployment rates my have increased from May to June, California saw its unemployment rate decrease as a whole.

Unemployment rates in the Bay Area increased slightly from May to June, bucking a downward trend statewide, according to data released Friday by California's Employment Development Department.
Marin County had the lowest unemployment rate in the Bay Area in June at 4 percent, which was up from 3.8 percent in May.
Solano County had the highest unemployment rate in the Bay Area at 6.7 percent, which was up from 6.6 percent in May.
All nine Bay Area counties saw slight increases in unemployment from May to June with Alameda County up to 5.8 percent from 5.6 percent, Contra Costa County up to 6 percent from 5.8 percent, Napa County up to 4.7 percent from 4.5 percent, San Francisco County up to 4.5 percent from 4.4 percent, San Mateo County up to 4.2 percent from 4.1 percent, Santa Clara County up to 5.4 percent from 5.2 percent and Sonoma County up to 5.3 percent from 5 percent.
California saw its unemployment rate decrease to 7.4 percent in June from 7.6 percent in May.
