The 94-degree pool is 8 feet by 20 feet and four feet deep, catered to dogs for a warm water swimming experience. According to manager and canine swim coach Ellen Davison, warm water swimming is the perfect solution for conditioning the canine athlete. It’s also an ideal exercise for pudgy pooches.

“Our main draw is the warm water swimming pool,” said Davison. “We network with vets in the area that refer us for helping dogs with mobility problems because they are old or have an injury or they just need more exercise. Warm water swimming is an effective therapy that provides half the length of recovery time from a surgery. We see many dogs with knee injuries and the warm water swimming is restorative for dogs of all ages and physical conditions.”

It’s also just fun.

“Some dogs just love swimming. We let your dog swim in a controlled environment while you keep him going with our toys,” said Davison.

There’s also swim lessons to ensure your dog knows what to do when hit by a wave at the beach.

The Rex Center is open for appointment only on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
