Longboard Margarita Bar Celebrates Grand Reopening, Candy Oasis Hosts Ribbon Cutting

This "we hope you love candy as much as we do" mom and pop candy store a block away from the Pacifica Pier has been open for a year, but as a new Pacifica Chamber of Commerce member, owners Tony and Maggie Borja are celebrating their opening this Sept. 6 from 5:30 to 6 p.m. with a ribbon cutting. Come join the fun, meet the owners, and get your candy fix with nostalgia candy like Necco Candy Button, Charleston Chews, Pop Rocks, and Sour Candy to salt water taffy and 15 different flavors of fudge homemade by a San Carlos woman. “Anyone from age 4 to 95 will find something they like here,” said Tony.

GRAND REOPENING: Longboard Margarita Bar, 180 Eureka Square, Pacifica, (650) 738-5905

The Longboard Margarita Bar is celebrating a grand reopening weekend, Aug. 31-Sept 2, with some exciting changes. The owners have been in the process of making the bar that much more comfortable with couches and a new window in the front of the bar to let the natural light in as well as a great peek of the Ocean and beautiful Pacifica coastline. They are also adding more space for groups to get together, play their favorite board games, watch a game or just enjoy each other’s company in comfort. There’s also a special surprise that no other establishment has on the coast that they do not want to let out of the bag just yet, but know it will be a hit so come and find out what it’s all about.
On Aug.31, there’s the Artist Series featuring the very talented "Pete Collom" Art show starts at 6 p.m. with an appetizer spread and the great new remodel. On Sept. 1-2, the Bar is open to show off their new remodel.

Owner Rosemarie Martinez, who has cut hair for 32 years, will close her business next month. A chronic medical condition aggravated by a car accident has caused her to require surgery. After surgery she expects to recover for a full year and when that is over, she'll see about starting up her business again.

 

CLOSED: Straw Hat Pizza, 549 Oceana Blvd., Pacifica

Straw Hat Pizza unexpectedly closed. No explanation, only papered windows, a locked door and a recorded message: "We're sorry; you have reached a number that has been disconnected or is no longer in service."

 

GRAND REOPENING: Savvy Skirts, Zaballa Square, 300 Main St., Half Moon Bay, (650) 560-0142

Savvy Skirts is celebrating its new location on Sept. 27 from 5 to 8 p.m. with a “Moving On Up” Grand Re-opening Party and Ribbon Cutting. Savvy Skirts carries “fabulously functional” gifts and accessories made for women by women. Jewelry, hats, scarves, cards, shoes, spa, home and office accessories and much more. The store will also be hosting a Silpada Designs jewelry party on Sept. 12. Call for details.

Stayed tuned for a foot and body massage spa coming to Half Moon Bay in mid-September. The 4,000-square-foot space that formerly housed a steak house between the Half Moon Bay Lodge and entrance to Ocean Colony will now be transformed into a family friendly relaxation oasis with foot and body massage services, according to owner Sean Teng.
