Dallas' Place Cooks to Please

Dallas' Place cooks a corned beef hash and eggs that I won't soon forget.

In a nutshell: prices are affordable, the service is fantastic, and the experience is classic. Do yourself a favor and dine at Dallas' Place, 699 Oceana Blvd, Pacifica, CA 94044.

The details: When you first walk into Dallas' Place you see a traditional diner from the tables to the "specials" board and the personal service that starts with a smile.

Diane Affolter, who co-owns Dallas's with her father Dallas, manages as well as serves. Her service is quick and tailored to you; she's the type of waitress that remembers your usual but will suggest something new, as well. It's this kind of service that brings me back to this place over and over again. That's in addition to the food, of course.

I ordered the corned beef hash and eggs "over medium," sourdough toast, and home fries (a medley of onions, potatoes, and bell peppers). It was a little chilly outside so I ordered a hot chocolate, too.

The food arrived quickly and looked amazing. The hot chocolate came topped with whipped cream and toffee. As for the corned beef hash, the meat and potatoes were fresh and put together right before preparing. I could tell this was no canned corned beef hash, which is very common at restaurants.

The eggs were cooked perfectly: whites fully cooked while the yokes were runny and perfect to dip my sourdough toast in. The home fries were crispy and savory. And, all in all, that's Dallas': savory.
