San Mateo County Harbor District board members unveiled a new sign this week that will be posted at Pillar Point Harbor and Oyster Point Marina, advertising the capital improvements, enhancements and maintenance projects slated for completion in the 2012-13 budget year.
“The board is very excited to see these projects moving forward and the positive outcomes they will bring in regards to life extension of the district facilities,” said Scott Grindy, harbormaster for the San Mateo County Harbor District.
The projects are for various capital repair and maintenance efforts at Pillar Point Harbor. Some of the smaller projects are already underway, such as the West Restroom Refurbishment, Vessel Pump Out for vessel holding waste tanks, Slurry Seal for the boat ramps and many other larger projects, including updating pier surfaces, utility, mechanical and electrical repairs to the Johnson Pier.
In addition many of the projects that are using the Leed Standards for the materials, energy and design, and will also include some environmental improvements to the pier to further improve water quality standards in the harbor areas.
Most recently, the pier pole light fixture heads were converted to energy saving LED lighting, of which will reduce energy costs and maintenance service repair activities. Additionally, a new replacement pump out-system has been installed by the fuel dock for the emptying of boat holding tanks.
At Oyster Point Marina many other projects are either underway or soon to start. These include dock modifications and wave attenuators installation, installation of a new guest dock, refurbishment of three restrooms, and slurry seal work at the boat ramp area.
