Photoshoot: Pacifica Musicians Get Princeton Backdrops

Though our business, Spring Mountain Gallery is closed until January 2,  we did one job yesterday - a photoshoot in Princeton, of two longtime local musicians, Gene Gibson (of the former band "Highway One")and Kit Bedford, for their upcoming website.    My husband Michael A Wong was the main photographer – I was his assistant and pick-up-shot photographer.  I got to stand on a corner as model, as Mike adjusted the camera’s settings, and we waited for our subjects to arrive.  Several friends shouted out to me as I stood there.  Renate Bingham invited us to a New Year’s Eve party, and Randall Haake, who is also a musician, talked about his new job at the OPL’s Silver Star Grill & Gallery.   The gallery part of the grill is new - a display of photos that used to hang in the Princeton yarn Shop, which Chris Overfelt used to run as one of the Harbor Village Shoppes.   When Chris closed the yarn shop, she went to work at the Silver Star Grill for her sons, Brian and Pete Overfelt.  But I digress.....

Michael’s vision was to use the Mezza Luna restaurant as one of the backdrops -  Gene & Kit often performed in that building in the 1970s,  when it was the Princeton Inn.    Not an easy place to shoot, as it is in a busy location, with lots of traffic, but Mike timed it right between passing vehicles.   Then it was on to the Romeo Pier warehouse, where this time, Gene and Kit played “dodge-car” so that Mike could get what he wanted. After the shoot, Gene offered to buy us all lunch, so we chose the Old Princeton Landing’s Silver Star Grill, where Gene & Kit sang a few tunes that Gene wrote, along with some Everly Brothers hits.  I couldn’t help singing along, as we waited for our food.  There was much applause from the other diners (and pool players), and Mike got a few more photos, before we had our excellent lunch.  Work CAN be fun sometimes,....
