5th Annual Surf Movie Benefit supporting Earth Day Pacifica

The Pacifica Beach Coalition and premiere sponsor Recology of the Coast are pleased to present "CHASING THE SWELL, Big Wave Surfing Through the Pacific" by Sachi Cunningham.  

The three part video chronicles the lifestyle of big wave surfers journeying between swells in Waimea Bay on the north shore of Oahu, Mavericks in Half Moon Bay, and Isla Todos Santos a small island off Baja California.  

The specialized group of waterman share their perspective as they focus on pushing the envelope of their paddling skills so they can catch larger and larger waves unassisted.   

The film screening in support of Earth Day Pacifica (April 21, 2012) will include a special viewing of the award winning"Mavericks, Everest of the Sea Photo Exhibition".  

Great Raffle prizes.  No host wine and beer.  

Two Screenings:  6:00pm  and 8:30pm  (doors open at 5:30pm and 8:00pm respectively).  Arrive early for best seats --  to buy raffle tickets --  and  -- share in the spirit of community.    

Tickets are:  

  • $15 in advance; $20 at the door.
  • $10 in advance for seniors (+65) and youth (16 and under)

  • Cafe Pacifica, 1821 Palmetto Avenue 
  • Pacifica PBR Office, 1810 Francisco Blvd.

Attending will be film creator Sahci, big wave surfers Twiggy, and Skindog, our local bit wave photographer Frankie Quirarte, and who knows who else will show up. Great raffle prizes, and some special silent auction items. Don't miss it!

The Pacifica Chamber of Commerce says that "the only person that might is John the Sign Guy.Read More 650.369.1626. Other than that, the Dollar Store in Linda Mar is looking into getting some Pacifica souvenirs. Maybe she’ll order some bumper stickers."

We live in an country where there are different races and different languages but the native language is English and to omit that language from any sign that was paid for by tax payers is a slap in the face. Don't forget to put up posters at the local pet stores, veterinary hospitals, groomers, etc. LostRead More pets are brought into our hospital all the time. Also, be sure to check with the Peninsula Humane Society daily, in case he was picked up and taken there. Good luck finding kitty!
