Bike, Walk or Bus to Fog Fest This Weekend

With over 60,000 expected attendees, driving in is a bad idea.

kicks off Saturday morning. With 24 bands on three stages, the traditional sand castle building contest, Discover Pacifica Parade and a marching band competition, plus dozens of vendor booths and other distractions, this year's celebration of everything Pacifica looks to be the best yet.

So good, in fact, that SamTrans and the city anticipate 60,000 visitors throughout the weekend. That's a lot of traffic trying to get to a very small part of Pacifica.

To ease congestion on Palmetto, where the festival take place, SamTrans is rereouting the 112 bus away from the soon-to-be congested avenue to Oceana Boulevard, just one block from the festival. Its 140 route has always served the Pacific Manor Shopping Center less than 1 mile north of the festival; that's another good option.

If you can, ride your bike to Fog Fest. The weather forecast looks great and going on two wheels rather than four will save a lot of time, money and gas.

Free, secure bike parking will be available during the festival at the corner of Palmetto and Santa Rosa.

And, if you live close enough to Palmetto, just walk.

The festival begins Saturday and Sunday at 10a.m. and is located on Palmetto Avenue.
