What Would You Improve in Pacifica in 2013?

If you could make a New Year's resolution for Pacifica, what would it be?

More than 45 percent of Americans make a resolution every year, according to statisticbrain.com. Some people vow to live a healthier lifestyle, others promise to spend more time with family, and many say they will try to save money.

As millions of Americans make resolutions to improve their lives, what could we do right here in Pacifica to make it an even better place to live?

Would it be Highway 1 widening? More festivals and events? Banning fireworks on July 4 or developing the quarry? More beach cleanups and hiking trails or less crime? What about more economic growth with a focus on commercial and private development? Or maybe you'd like to see more tax money go to the schools or an assisted living facility? Perhaps you're happy with the way Pacifica is, but you would simply like to see more potholes filled or dilapidated buildings fixed up.

What is on your Pacifica wish list? What is one thing you would improve in 2013?

I would open the dang tunnel already and I'd have the bus that gives free rides between Pacifica and HMB do it late night as well. Other than that it's perfect here!

Pot holes and repaving. Linda Mar Blvd is awful. With all the construction traffic for TNHS Science and Theater buildings, the trucks did lots of damage.

Take concrete steps to save us from bankruptcy and stop all the secrecy and back room deals. Release the police outsourcing report that we paid for and put it back on the table if it makes sense to. Stop spending money we don't have and kicking the can down the road.

Remove fluoride from our drinking water ASAP and payoff the equity loan the elected officials enacted.

Put fluoride back in our drinking water after David removes it so that we don't have teeth like the Brits.

Approve Mall/theater complex in Rockaway, and finish the Tunnel!

Yeah potholes are getting bad. All our infrastructure is going down hill fast because we're almost broke. One big lawsuit and we could go bankrupt. And it looks like there's a significant one on next weeks council agenda. We desperately need to cut current costs and increase revenue by allowing more projects like the assisted living center to be built. For over 20 years we've had a city council that has caved to extreme environmentalists. Now we have little new business, no industry or large companies and few housing built.Hopefully this new council will finally move us forward.

Restore the Pacifica Resource Center's funding, in full. They provide, and assist others in providing, valuable services that help those in need to survive.

What great ideas! Finishing the tunnel would be good, I agree. A motocross track at the old rifle range? Could be fun. I'd like to compile this list, coupled with all the resolution ideas posted on our Facebook page, into an article for next week....so stay tuned.

I would stop Caltrans from doing the pointless widening of Highway 1 between the Rockaway and Vallemar stoplights, which will cost hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars and will do nothing to lessen congestion. It will only move the bottleneck slightly further down the road. Instead, I'd implement some of the many alternatives that have been proposed and that Caltrans refuses to do.

Remove fluoride from drinking water! Fluoride ingestion effects?
