Pacifica Mayor Pete DeJarnatt admits he's not a fan of the city's policy allowing the sale of so-called "safe and sane" fireworks ahead of the Fourth of July, but that the city's will be a moot point before long, predicting a state ban within 15-20 years.

"Sooner or later it's going to have to stop," he said, predicting a statewide ban within 15-20 years.

"The way it looks to me, the writing's on the wall."

 

Wednesday, July 4

The Pacifica Beach Coalition held targeting Fourth of July fireworks remnants at Rockaway Beach on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. and after 10 p.m. on the night of July 4 in an effort to capture the debris before its swept out to sea by the high tide.

 

Thursday, July 5

(18-and-under) won the Keith Connelly Fourth of July Invitational, defeating Peninsula rival Millbrae 13-3 in a five-inning mercy-ruled title game Wednesday at Veterans Home of California’s Cleve Borman Field in Yountville, the Napa Valley Register reports.

Kurtis Casperson, who’ll be a Terra Nova High senior later this year, was named the tournament MVP.

 

Friday, July 6

Pacifica police during July 4 celebrations that attracted lighter than normal crowds to the city's streets and beaches.
