The pass frees up parents and caregivers from chauffeur duties and teaches kids how to use public transportation.

By Joan Dentler

Parents rejoice ... you no longer need to spend your summer driving your kids to the beach, the park, their friends' houses or summer job or camp. Thanks to the deeply discounted SamTrans Summer Youth Pass, kids can ride SamTrans all summer long for just $40.

According to the SamTrans website, the pass not only frees up parents and caregivers from chauffeur duties, it teaches kids how to use public transportation.

With dozens of routes throughout San Mateo County and into Palo Alto and San Francisco, SamTrans offers kids plenty of opportunity to get where they want to go this summer.
