PHOTO: Great Horned Owl Comes for Nightly Visit
Every evening, a Great Horned Owl visits this photographer's house on Farallon Avenue in Pacifica.
A Great Horned Owl that visits my house every evening is also know as a Coastal Great Horned Owl.
Great Horned Owls are know to be harbingers of change and new beginnings, a predator that hunts from dusk to dawn and does not make a sound while flying.
They are found in North America and the one pictured here is called a Coastal Great Horned Owl.

The Great Horned Owl has a special relevance to Pacifica because its counterpart is the Red Tailed Hawk. They have a ying and yang element and share the same hunting grounds but never see each other. The owl represents the moon and the hawk the sun.
Owls hunt from dusk to dawn when the hawk is sleeping and the hawk hunts from day to night when the owl is sleeping.
