Our Baby Came Home! I’ll Be Away the Next Two Weeks.

Here are some things to keep in mind while I'm away changing diapers and child-proofing my home.

In early August, my wife . It was a hectic experience, but everything turned out beautifully.

Bianca and I left the hospital after one week, but our new son Noah had to hang there a bit longer so he could acclimate to life outside the womb.

Rather than use my paternity leave while Noah was in the hospital, I decided I’d go back to work and save it for his homecoming, which arrived two days ago, about three weeks after he was born on August 6.

My wife and I visited him in the hospital in Sacramento every single day. It was exhausting at times, but we knew we had to do it. But now it's time to be a family, so I’ll be offline until September 18. I'm pretty excited about it.

Dixon Patch will have a guest editor and a couple of freelance reporters running the show in my absence. The editor's name is Jennifer Morita, and she'll be great. You can reach her at jenniferkmorita@gmail.com. Please don’t hesitate to do so.

HERE'S MY MESSAGE TO YOU...

I think this can be an opportunity for you to really grab a hold of this site.

Sure, Dixon Patch is a news outlet with articles and videos and whatnot. But it’s also a place to share information and interact with the news. This town is yours, and you can play a role in the sharing what's going on. Here are some simple ways to do that:

We’ll always be here reporting and writing. That will NEVER stop. But we don’t want you to just sit back and wait around while we do it. As I told you when I took over at Dixon Patch, you’re sitting on too much valuable information.

I’ll see you all on September 18. In the meantime, contact Jennifer at jenniferkmorita@gmail.com with any questions, and help tell the town’s stories while I'm gone.

I'm going to go hang out with my baby now. Bye!
