On Saturday, Feb. 23, a cheerful group of volunteers, who had taken part in the regular monthly clean up of the Mussel Rock area, congregated on Westline Drive beneath a new sign.

The sign thanks all volunteers for taking care of the area and acknowledges hikers and dog walkers who commit random acts of trash pickup, as well as individuals such as Ian Butler and Helen & Friends, who have adopted this area for several months.

Signs like these are created by the Pacifica Beach Coalition to honor the groups that Adopt a Beach and pledge to clean it up three times in a year. Every Pacifica beach has adoptee's. In this instance, this sign shows the adoptees for the Mussel Rock/Secret Waterfall area.

At the sign dedication, coffee cake was eaten and photos were taken.

There is space to add plaques honoring other groups of volunteers wishing to join the adoption of this worthy area. Interested volunteers and organizations may contact Lynn Adams at pickituppacifica@gmail.com.
