Have You Seen One of These Spiders in Your House Lately?

This bitty brown spider has one Pacifica resident freaking out just a little bit.

Last week, Pacifica resident Marci Ganoza posted on Pacifica Patch’s Facebook page this photo of a spider she found in her house. She also found another spider just like this one outside of her house.

“OK, I need some help,” she wrote to Patch. “I have seen two of these spiders ... but I can't identify it. I live in the back of the valley. It's freaking me out a little bit.”

Daniel Trecroci wrote back, “I think that's called the You Will Suffer Long and Hard After it Bites You Death Spider” and Jaime Ganoza thinks it's called "arachinidious devilous, species creature from hell, orgin scum of the earth!" Roje Denegri recommended buying “some insect spray for the yard. It works for a few months.”

But it was Linda Mendoza who identified it as a "sow bug killer," a Mediterranean invasive, this spider is usually found under wood or bark, according to information on http://nature.berkeley.edu, and usually found close to woodlice and in houses.

And … they have been known to bite humans if handled, so watch out. Their bite can be painful but the venom causes no major medical problems.
