As part of their oath, "to help other people at all times," Boy Scouts of all ages from the Pacific Skyline Council will be collecting non-perishable food from locations throughout San Mateo and northern Santa Clara Counties during their annual "Scouting for Food" collection drive on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 9 a.m.
Each year, the Pacific Skyline Council collects upwards of 80,000 lbs. of food — enough to provide a hot and healthy Holiday meal for 20,000 families. This community-service project benefits local food banks and charities, including the Pacifica Resource Center, Coastside Hope in Half Moon Bay and the Salvation Army Citadel Corps Community Center in South San Francisco.
This Saturday, Nov. 10th, the Scouts will deliver almost 100,000 door-hangers to these locations inviting the public to participate the following weekend and help those in need.
If your residence did receive a door-hanger, please place your non-perishable goods in a recycled bag or box, attach the door-hanger to it, and place it outside in view of the street no later than 9 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 17, and it will be collected then by local Scouts.
If you did not receive a door-hanger, the Scouts invite you to participate by bringing your food donations and/or money between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. directly to one of the three, local collection sites staffed by helpful, cheerful, and kind Boy Scouts.
