I have read statements and watched a video from the marines. He is still an American soldier andRead Moredes erves to go through due process, not rot in captivity overseas. Regardless of his error in judgement and the reason for it, he is still an American. I honestly do not understand the vile hate by many on this issue. Absolutely try him, but give him that opportunity to stand trial. The other thing that so many people don't ever think about with the exchange for 5 mid level Taliban prisoners is that within a year the US was going to have to release them as per International Law anyway. Once we are out of Afghanistan, which there is a time table for withdraw, they were to be released. We have given them to Qatar where they will remain for the rest of that term. So essentially we got him for nothing.
m June 24, 2014 at 01:35 PM
Haha u think Iraq is going to just release all the taliban once we are gone?
MadMonkey June 25, 2014 at 05:30 PM
Not the point and unrelated. If Iraq chooses to break international law then that is their business Read Moreand choice. Plus you do realize that the US holds them at Guantanamo because we could not legally hold them here because they have not been charged with any crime. That is part of the whole deal. We have nothing on them. They technically are officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and considered "state actors" and are not "terrorists" by definition. On one hand this is good because if we had any evidence on them then they can be tried under the UN Security Council for war crimes by the International Court. They still can as they are being held in Qatar. Otherwise they need to be released by the end of the conflict. It is the reality of the situation. You are suggesting that Obama break international law, which frankly I am glad he is not. The previous administration broke international law which was damaging to our reputation.

Hi MadMonkey. I'm so sorry that it is beyond your reach to go to the Castle. You see it is fundRead Morer aising for the Pacifica Historical Society so that we can restore the Little Brown Church to a Museum for Pacifica. We volunteers have worked 8 years and raised over $500,000. to rebuild that LBC building...It needed everything...new foundations, roof, heaters... you name it ...even an elevator for the handicapped. The Castle owners allow us to use the Castle 4 days a year to run the public tours...so we can make money for the LBC restoration. Otherwise, the Castle is not open to the public! We all work as volunteers to run the public tours. So it's not just a museum...its a way for volunteers to raise money for a museum in Pacifica. Now...if you would each like to volunteer to help for one day at the Castle..tomorrow, or next weekend. you could earn your way to see it... If you would like to do it, please contact me at Erika@pacificahistory.org....not only would you get to see the inside of the Castle, but you would be performing a volunteer service for the Pacifica community...and you will meet a lot of very nice people..perhaps you might even know some of us... I hope to see your email tomorrow or during the week.

Pacifica Historical Society just completed our 4 days of public tours at the Castle. We had manyRead Moreh appy participants and were successful in earning funds to complete the restoration of the Little Brown Church into a museum and event center in the Sharp Park Historical District. These tours are currently the only public tours of the Castle and include docents and ghosts of past residents and neighbors--a great show for all. And staffed entirely by volunteers from the Pacifica commuinity. If you missed it this year....go to our website and let us know you want to be notified of the dates for next year. PacificaHistory.org While there look around... there's lots of information...particularly go to our "wiki" for the history of Pacifica and the coastside.
