I miss the articles written by women in the "CoastsideBreakers" from sharp park, rockawayRead More beach, vallemar and pedro point (my mom, kitty bouly) telling you what was happening in their part of town. Babies born, girls engaged, weddings, who is visiting whom from out of town, who is sick and in the hospital and who is having bingo that weekend. Miss coming down the highway and seeing the lights shining towards the ocean behind Wander Inn on the water. Miss the trout farm, Saturday night dances at Pedro firehouse, Danmans on Pedro Point, watching the fishermen going out to sea from the boathouse on the point, the old shed where the horses were shoed across the street around 1946 from Reeses Bar (later became the Vagabond) the noon fire siren on Magrins barn,(a way to insure the siren system was working) riding the bus to Rockaway School, getting to wear jeans to school on Thursday for softball, Mrs Adams, teacher and principal of Rockaway School letting us take turns to ring the hand bell announcing time to go in classrooms, the "rings" in front of the school , the May Day Pole dance, and I miss the "all you can eat" restaurant run by Mr. Rosenberg on the Point. P.S. I really enjoyed reading all the comments, almost the same as the newspapers back in the 50's.

My daughter Kelly & I, at a yard sale in Pacifica.

Hey Deb, great stories about some of yours & Mikes more lucrative finds. I have sold a numberRead More of things on eBay as well. Since I know music stuff best I tend to stick to that. However I dumpster dived ( I found a brass Stanford University License plate frame that went for $20) and flipped guitars I found listed on craigslist. I once found a Vantage flying V bass guitar at a Pacifica garage sale with a price tag of $45. I asked the guy if he would take $35 ( he did ) and I sold it for $375. There are lots of ways to make money and meet new people. We always saw "Old Joe" A regular early bird in the Pacifica area. He came to our garage sale when we had one and bought a lot of furniture I had that I was going to refinsih but nver got around to. We later found that Old Joe wasn't buying it for his grandson but to sell at a five family garage sale on Clarenada in Pacifica. I still go to garage sales but eBay has made it hard to profit with about a 15% fee charge when you include paypal. Thanks for coasting and posting....Frank
