Should Some City Council Members Be Recalled?

Two have been served notice that a group of residents intend to recall them in November.

Two Pacifica City Council members have been notified that a group of citizens intend to recall them in November.

Therese Dyer, who regularly speaks during public comment periods at city council meetings about the failures of Councilman Pete DeJarnatt and Councilwoman Sue Digre, said she's already collected more than 20 signatures to place a recall of those two council members on the November ballot, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

It would take the signatures of 20 percent of people who voted in the last election, or many thousands of people, to qualify for the November ballot.

"The allegations in the recall notice also refer to violations of city codes forcing a whistleblower to resign, an alleged violation of state law by encouraging a biodiesel project that failed. Also, rejected developments, lack of action regarding city properties and waste of taxpayer funds. And finally, an alleged lack of disciplinary actions regarding employees' neglect that cost the city millions of dollars, the notice states," the article reads.

According to the Mercury, DeJarnatt denies all of Dyer's charges.
