Pacifica Beach Coalition Parties on the Point
Nearly 100 people show for the group's first fundraiser.
The Pacifica Beach Coalition threw its first fundraiser Saturday night: a party at the well-known house of Jennifer Ball and Mike Varney near the peak of Pedro Point.
Guests at "Party on the Point", as the event was called, were treated to some light, lounge-y jazz performed by the Ace Cameron Jazz Group featuring Susan Watson, plenty of hors d'oeuvres, drinks and a raffle.
The Pacifica Beach Coalition hosts regular cleanups around town in creeks and on beaches, and holds an annual Earth Day Celebration at Linda Mar.
Admission to the event came in the form of a voluntary donation. In all, 90 people RSVP'd, said Margo Meiman, the Pacifica Beach Coalition member who organized the event.
The inspiration for the party, Meiman said, was the victory celebration thrown by the group that helped pass Measure L, the Pacifica School District's parcel tax increase and extension.
The Pacifica Beach Coalition expects to have Parties on the Point regularly.

Thanks to everyone who attended. It was a lovely evening that highlighted the spirit of community that reflects the Pacifica Beach Coalition and the amazing volunteer work that takes place in our city. Look forward to seeing everyone again at the upcoming Surf Movie Benefit in support of Earth Day on Friday, February 24.

What a wonderful party. Fantastic jazz with a sultry singer, beach art hanging on mannequins, great people all with a common purpose: to keep our beaches clean.
